Remi Veneziano – 2022 Mentoring Excellence Award Recipient

Dr. Veneziano’s Nomination

I believe that Remi is the best candidate for this award because he has proven to be an excellent professor, a caring mentor, a creative principal investigator and an inspirational role model not just to myself but to many of my peers. I’ve been working with Remi for 3 years in the Institute for Advanced Biomedical Research (IABR) and strongly believe he’s a prime candidate for the award because of his relentless passion and time spent helping students grow academically. As a mentor Remi saw potential in me and placed me in an independent project for me to expand. That project ended up developing in my first author paper that ultimately helped earn me a spot at a top university, something beyond what a regular professor would do for an undergraduate student. Now, after 3 years, I’ve been accepted into a doctorate program at Johns Hopkins, Stanford, and other major powerhouses. Beyond me, I’ve seen Remi go the extra mile to give time and teach not only his students but anyone how to successfully grow professionally in his field. I believe that my own success in my project was only possible because of Remi’s continued advisory, mentorship, and moral support.
