Taylor Hartwell

PhD Student, Criminology, Law, and Society 

Taylor Hartwell, Co-Director of the graduate and undergraduate labs at the Center for Advancing Correctional Excellence (ACE!), completes research on solitary confinement in prisons. Her mentorship focuses on helping students invest in the professional futures. Her students have presented their work at various conferences including the National Conference of Undergraduate Research, Academy of Criminal Justice Societies, and the American Society of Criminology. They have also gone on to write senior theses and book chapters based on the research they completed under Hartwell’s mentorship. Hartwell starts students on ongoing projects to introduce them to research, and then helps students transition to their own independent work.
